Bansko is one of the most desired for tourist visit places in south-west BulgariaThe town with citizens over  10 000 is a main administrative, cultural and economic centre of the County of Bansko. It is located 161 km south of the capital Sofia and 59 km South-East from Blagoevgrad with both of which it is well connected in terms of transport utilities: roads, buses, taxis, etc. Famous as the entrance to the great mountain of Pirin, Bansko is one of the fastest growing Bulgarian winter resorts. The average number of visiting tourists  including a massive number of foreigners (English, Dutch, Russian, American and others). This is the favourite place for a weekend rest for people coming from the bigger Bulgarian towns and cities and of course the capital Sofia.
The altitude of Bansko is 936m. at the foot of one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains-Pirin, which is a national park, included in he list of the objects presenting the world natural heritage. A ski-resort of national importance, visited also in the summer time, an initial point for lots of tourist routes leading to different parts of Pirin mountain. Situated among three mountains –Pirin, Rila and Rhodopies, Bansko is a climatic mountain resort with a short and warm summer and a long and mild winter. The average temperatures during January-the coldest winter month is -1.9˚C.The snowfall is heavy and lead to heaping and detention of snow cover reaching 2m.The ski season begins in the middle of December and continues to the middle of April.
Bansko is situated close to other resorts in Bania, Razlog, Dobrinishte and is only 10 km. away from them.
