The town of Nessebar has about 10,000 inhabitants and extends over a small peninsula. It lies 37 km northeast of Bourgas and 429 km east of Sofia. Its beach is considered to be one of the finest along the Black Sea coast due to a large sandy strip of land between the town and the village of Ravda, covered with clean golden sand. There are marvelous dunes next to the coast. The green copses by the sandy strips provide a cool breath of air during the hot days.
